It’s something I’ve become increasingly aware of.
I’ve noticed it about myself.
I’ve noticed it about others.
We come up with all kinds of scenarios.
Reasons, assumptions, excuses.
How something will play out.
Why we shouldn’t take action.
Above all, it’s scary.
It’s the fear of the worst-case scenario.
Or perhaps of the unknown.
Which paralyzes us.
Confidence, gone.
Memories of previous experiences, gone.
As if we’re dealing with amnesia.
We even try to justify our reasoning.
This situation is unlike the one before.
It’s much worse or much more serious.
More often than not it’s a fallacy.
Sure, every situation is unique.
We are no longer the same person.
Neither are other people we are dealing with.
What hasn’t changed: the fact your mind exaggerates everything.
Things that seem scary become even scarier.
Things that seem complex become even more complicated.
Things that seem hopeless become even more hopeless.
Except they aren’t.
Nothing is inherently scary, complex or hopeless.
It’s just your mind telling you that it is.
Any situation can be resolved with action.
The longer you wait, the more you let your mind play tricks on you.
The earlier you take action, the earlier you’ll experience reality.
Focus on the process over the outcome.
The process is what you control.
Once you do what is in your control, you will start to feel in control.
A much nicer experience than the lack of control your mind makes you experience.
Want to increase your odds?
Improve your process.
Improve the “how”.
Improve what lies within your control.
The result.
The “what”.
Will take care of itself.
